According to the BBC, the Lebanese have arrested the members of the guerrilla squad that fired mortar shells into northern Israel this morning, reported The Jerusalem Post Wednesday.
The incident took place near Shabba farms. The explosions were heard in Metulla Jewish settlement, said the paper.
There were no casualties and the Israeli army “returned” fire, according to the paper.
The Lebanese resistance group of Hizbollah has carried out a number of operations in the area one of which was the capturing of three Israeli soldiers in mid October and several bomb attacks that left one Israeli soldier killed and several others injured.
The Shabaa farms are considered Lebanese by the resistance and the government of Lebanon as well as the government of Syria. Israel, however, has refused to withdraw from the territory saying that it had occupied the farms from Syria and not from Lebanon in the 1967 war, and that the issue should be settled within the context of the Israeli-Syrian Peace negotiation.
On its part, Hizbollah has pledged war against Israel would continue until the return of the Lebanese occupied Shabaa – Albawaba.com
