Bangladesh Tuesday announced an amnesty for 250 prisoners to mark the upcoming Islamic Eid Al-adha festival and the country's 30th Independence Day, officials said.
They said the under-trial prisoners were being held for "minor offences."
"It is hoped that after (their) release they would play a positive role in the socio-economic development of the country," a statement said.
