An agreement has been signed between the Syrian Ministry of Economy and the Bahraini Ministry of Finance, under which Bahraini experts will hold training courses for Syrian bankers in the various banking services including financial guarantees, letters of credits and insurance policies, in addition to the new computer technologies and automated banking services.

The agreement was signed during a visit to Damascus last week by the Undersecretary of the Bahraini Ministry of Finance.

Mahmoud Mithqal, General Manager of Syrian Commercial Bank, has told reporters that public banks in the country do not fear the competition of the new private banks that will be established in Syria “provided that the same conditions are available for both kinds of banks.”
