Bahrain is to create the position of attorney general, which will be affiliated with the justice and Islamic affairs ministry, reported the Gulf Daily News on Sunday.
The decision was taken at the fifth National Action Charter activation committee meeting, chaired by Crown Prince Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The ministry’s undersecretary, Sheikh Abdul Rahman bin Jaber Al Khalifa, said the government would also take the necessary steps to set up a court to oversee the national constitution.
Members stressed that the supreme judiciary council must be independent and said care should be taken to train judges in the latest judiciary developments, according to the paper.
They said judges should also enjoy immunity from civil actions and called for modern regulations to be drawn up governing their promotion – Albawaba.com
