Iraq said Wednesday that 23 Iraqi civilians were killed in an air raid by US-British warplanes guarding the so-called no-fly zone.
Al Jazeera satellite channel’s sources did not reveal why the news was announced a day after the bombing took place. They said that the victims’ funerals took place Wednesday.
The station later cited US Secretary of State Colin Powell as denying the report.
The station’s correspondent said that a family lost four of its sons in the attack. They and their peers were playing football in the northern Moussel town when the aircraft bombarded the playground. Eleven more were reportedly injured – Albawaba.com
