Four explosions in Baghdad on Friday, killing at least 29 people and wounding dozens, officials said. The explosions took place mostly in Shiite neighborhoods. Suicide bombers attacked two Shiite mosques after Friday prayers ended, another explosion reported near a Shiite religious procession and a third suicide bomber detonated himself at an Iraqi police and National Guard checkpoint in a Sunni neighborhood.
In the biggest attack, at least 17 people were killed and more than 20 injured in a suicide bombing at a Shiite mosque in southern Baghdad, police said. "The attack was carried out by a suicide bomber wearing an explosives belt at the Kazimain mosque in Abu Dishr near Dura," a police officer at the nearby Yarmuk hospital told AFP. A US army officials the blast happened at around 1:00 pm (1000 GMT).
Elsewhere, two American troops were killed in separate attacks in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, the US military said. A car bomb went off next to a US army patrol in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, killing one soldier and injuring three on Thursday.
In a second attack on Thursday, a soldier was shot dead in an exchange of fire.
Meanwhile, two Indonesian television reporters were abducted by armed Iraqis in the western city of Ramadi on Tuesday, a government spokesman in Jakarta said on Friday.
The information regarding the abduction was received from the owner of a car rented by two journalists from Metro TV that on February 15.
