Austrian President Thomas Klestil arrived in Cairo on Saturday for a one-day visit to consult with his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak, according to the Cairo-based daily Al Ahram.
The Austrian president was then scheduled to leave for Amman to meet with Jordan's King Abdullah.
Discussions between Mubarak and his Austrian guest focused on the present circumstances in the Middle East, the US-led military operations in Afghanistan, and the consequences of the recent terrorist attacks in Washington and New York.
The two leaders also discussed bilateral relations, said the Arabic daily.
Upon leaving, Klestil expressed appreciation for the role played by the Egyptian president in the peace process in the Middle East and his firm stand against terrorism - Albawaba.com
