Twenty-one people were injured, one of them critically, when two trains collided head-on in the outskirts of Vienna, Police Commander Karl Kuhn said on Sunday.
Earlier reports said that up to 30 people had been injured when the two trains crashed on Saturday.
Kuhn said there were foreigners among the injured but gave no details.
The driver of the train travelling toward Vienna had gone through a red signal as he left Purkersdorf station, and collided with a train travelling in the opposite direction at about 7:30 pm (1730 GMT), Kuhn said.
Heavy damage was reported to both trains. Rail services were disrupted around the capital for several hours but had returned to normal by Sunday - VIENNA (AFP)
