Security guards of a Royal Jordanian airplane, which was heading on Saturday for Kuala Lumpur via Bangkok, foiled an abortive attempt to hijack the aircraft when it was preparing for landing in the Thai capital.

In a statement to Jordan News Agency, Minister of Information, Nabil Sharif, said that the security guards captured a Lebanese citizen who claimed to have explosives and planned to hijack the aircraft which had 248 passengers on board.

According to the minister, the security guards who checked the plane found no explosives.

The minister confirmed that the plane continued its flight to Kuala Lumpur without any delay, adding that the Lebanese passenger will be returned on the same flight to Amman for further interrogation. (Albawaba.com)
