Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad ratified on Saturday a border-agreement with Jordan that was signed previously between the two countries' interior ministers.

According to the agreement, Syria would return 125 square kilometers (Km2) to Jordan, while Jordan would return 3 Km2 to Syria.

A Syrian-Jordanian committee held several meetings in a bid to draw the borders according to the 1931 international border agreement. The two sides considered some humanitarian issues such as the presence of some Syrian citizens living on Jordanian territories of Tibriyat and Khirbat-Awad since 1970. Syria would return land to Jordan and would get Tibriyat and Khirba-Awad.
