Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday received at his palace on Sunday an Iraqi delegation of political and religious figures, led by Dr. Wameed Nazmi.
During the meeting, the Syrian leader stressed that maintaining Iraq’s national unity was the only way for overcoming the crisis which the Iraqi people is currently facing.
He noted that "Israel tries to create disputes and divisions in the region for its interests," SANA quoted him as saying.
The Iraqi delegation met also Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara. (Albawaba.com)
