Palestinian President Yasser Arafat is to hold talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on Wednesday on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, against the backdrop of a US-brokered ceasefire rocked by a spate of killings, said AFP.

Arafat, who is currently in Spain, is scheduled to arrive in Egypt late Tuesday, a senior Palestinian official told AFP.

"He will discuss with Mr. Mubarak international efforts to restore calm in the territories," the official said.

In Madrid, Arafat is due to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar on bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Occupied Territories, reported the official Kuwait news agency (KUNA).

Arafat will urge Spain to play a greater to support the Palestinians, KUNA said.

Arafat was scheduled in Madrid earlier this month, but his meetings with US and European officials prior to the ceasefire agreement caused a delay – Albawaba.com
