The Arab international conference on 'Development of Telecommunications in the Arab Countries' opened Thursday in Beirut, reported the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

More than 52 lecturers and 800 participants from all over the world will participate in the five-day conference, said the agency.

Mobile internet, m-commerce, WAP, and third-generation mobile telephony services are slated to be discussed at the conference, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

Other topics include satellite technologies and value-added telecom services. A new feature this year will be a session for telecoms operators, and a particularly challenging topic will be the session on Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services, the paper added - Albawaba.com
