Information ministers from several Arab countries on Wednesday discussed establishing a Hebrew-language satellite channel to serve as an alternative to information provided by Israeli media outlets, said reports.

A meeting of the ministers that began Tuesday evening in Beirut continued Wednesday with the participation of Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa.

The idea to establish a Hebrew-language broadcasting network was raised by Lebanese Information Minister Ghazi Al Araidi in response to proposals made in Israel to create an Arabic-language station that would broadcast from Israel to the Arab states.

"The communications sector must be included in the stand against the dangers posed by Israel in security, diplomatic and economic matters," the Lebanese minister said. "We must expose the fact that the real violence and terror is being committed by Israel and not by the Arab opposition.

The meeting will come up with a communiqué Wednesday evening listing recommendations. The participating ministers are also scheduled to meet with Lebanese President Emile Lahoud on the same day – Albawaba.com
