Arab League Committee on Weapons of Mass Destruction Meets in Cairo

The technical committee entrusted with coming up with a draft law banning weapons of mass destruction from the Middle East met in Cairo Tuesday at the Arab League headquarters.  

Participants were diplomats, lawyers, and military personnel from all member states of the league, according to agencies.  

 

The committee discussed primarily a work-plan defining steps to be agreed upon for the next preparatory meeting for states that have signed on the nuclear non-proliferation treaty to be held at the United Nations in New York between April 8-19, Muhammad Alnaseri, Arab league official in charge of the issue of weapons of mass destruction was quoted as saying. 

 

At the same venue on Wednesday, the 11th meeting of the Arab League committee monitoring Israeli nuclear activities will commence and will prepare a report on Israeli violation of the Nuclear Proliferation Treaty to be submitted to the next meeting of Arab foreign ministers in March.
