Arab-Israeli MK Azmi Bishara postponed his return to Israel on Thursday in order to hold talks with Syrian President Bashar Al Assad on Saturday, his spokesperson said.
Bishara called on Arab countries to promote "resistance" against Israel last week in a memorial service to mark the first anniversary of Hafez Assad’s death, prompting Israeli Attorney General Elyakim Rubinstein to order an investigation of the Knesset member.
“The incitement against me is worrying, but it does not affect my stands,” Bishara said in an interview with the Lebanese newspaper As Safir published Thursday.
Bishara added that he was not afraid to return to Israel despite the threats on his life and the possibility that his party would be expelled from the Knesset, according to Haaretz newspaper.
