A new website has been launched with the aim of stirring up the Arab World's stagnant trade with Brazil, according to a press release by the site's founders.
The site, www.arabbrazil.com, is the first to be devoted to Arab-Brazilian trade and is aimed at creating trade opportunities in a market estimated at more than $250 billion.
“Brazil has been exporting the same products and amounts from and to the Middle East for years,” said Nasser Kader of Jordan’s Kader Trade Consulting, the company behind the website.
“I believe this is largely due to the great geographical distance between the two, as well as perceived language barriers.”
Kader Trade, which specialises in Brazilian trade consultancy, says the site will help Arab businessmen reduce the price of Brazilian products by buying direct and cutting out middlemen.
“Any importer or trader in the Middle East wanting to deal with Brazil now has access to a vast range of Brazilian products, from coffee to garments, shoes, cosmetics, paper, wood, granite and toys,” said Kader.
“The site gives product specifications and is very much a gateway to Brazil, providing contact support to link with more than 50,000 Brazilian exporters.”
In the first quarter of this year, Brazil exported US $534.7 million worth of goods to 20 Arab countries in the Middle East and North Africa.
“Saudi Arabia and the UAE are the country’s major Arab markets with exports of $149.3 million and $119.5 million, respectively, in the first three months of the year,” explained Kader.
“In the main, Arab imports from Brazil are limited to chicken, meat, steel, coffee, sugar, paper and autoparts, although the country’s manufacturing sector extends well beyond these traditional trade categories.”
Headquartered in Amman, Kader Trade Consulting hopes to spur trade relations between Brazil and the Arab World with services ranging from market reports to business intelligence research.
“We have also launched a website in Portuguese, www.mercadoarab.com.br, which is aimed at Brazilian businesses and carries over 5,000 pages of information on the Middle East. This is very much two-way traffic,” said Kader – Albawaba.com
