Appointment of Ex-Shin Bet Chief as Israeli Envoy Triggers Human Rights Criticism

The appointment of former Israeli Shin Bet chief, Carmi Gillon, as ambassador to Denmark has sparked criticism by several human right organizations and the local press, reported Israel Radio, cited by Haaretz newspaper.  

The protestors said that, as a former head of Israel's internal security apparatus, Gillon was involved in the torture of Palestinian detainees, said the radio report.  

Danish television last week broadcast a program that included a piece on Gillon's part in the torture of Palestinian prisoners during his term in the Shin Bet, it added – Albawaba.com
