Four Iraqi policemen manning a checkpoint outside Ramadi west of the capital Baghdad were killed Sunday in a drive-by shooting, police Lt. Col. Saad Someir said Monday. Hours later, a roadside bomb has killed an Iraqi man as he stepped off a bus in Ramadi.
In Baghdad, two Iraqi civilians were killed and another two injured when an improvised bomb exploded on a busy highway.
In the northern city of Kirkuk, an Iraqi civilian was killed and two others seriously wounded late on Sunday after US troops opened fire on them, Iraqi police said.
The incident happened after occupation soldiers grew suspicious about a car parked near a block of government buildings and opened fire on it.
Elsewhere, a Jordanian driver was killed when a truck carrying a mobile home for Japanese ground forces came under attack near Baghdad, but Japan's Defense Ministry said the assault "did not appear to have targeted Japanese forces".
The truck carrying a mobile home procured by Japan's Defense Ministry was attacked in an area some 100 kilometers northwest of Baghdad on Sunday while traveling from Jordan to the Iraqi capital, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said it had received the information from its officials stationed in Baghdad. "We judged that it was not a terrorist attack targeting Japan," a ministry official said.
In the meantime, the search for two missing US pilots and one soldier continued Monday.
On Sunday, a OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter crashed during a search for a soldier who was on a patrol boat on the Tigris river near Mosul that went missing earlier. (Albawaba.com)
