The Algerian minister of health announced that the new health law is ready. The new law is intended to reform the provision of medicines and healthcare facilities. The minister, Mourad Redjimi, also said there will be major hospital reforms in the course of 2005.
The law is controversial and the minister has already faced strikes from pharmacists and not long ago there was also a major strike by surgeons. The new law is seen as essential for boosting investment in the Algerian health sector.
