Khalida Toumi, the Algerian Minister of Culture has recently paid a visit to the district of Adrar. The minister has set off to inspect a few of the various historical and cultural sites in the region, which is famous for the numerous (294) Berber fortresses (Ksour) that are spread all around it.
<i>El Watan</i> reports that during her visit, the minister has also donated 600 books to various educational institutions in the region, as part of a joint program of the Algerian Ministry of Culture with the Ministry of Education, and has taken part in laying the foundation stones of two libraries in Timimoun and in Adrar.
