Algerian Lyes Salem has just won the best short movie award in the 30th ceremony of Cesars, the French movies academy award version of the American Oscar award ceremony. Liberte-Algerie reports that Salem has won this prestigious award for his 30-minute film Cousines (Cousins), which is actually a French-Algerian co-production. The movie, which was filmed in Algiers and in Tipasa back in 2003, takes place in Algeria of the 1990s and tells the story of a young immigrant called Driss, who reunites with her country of origin and relatives, namely with her cousin Nedjama, during her summer vacation.
