The Ghoul family has made public a statement pleading that President Bouteflika of Algeria frees their two sons, Hafnaoui and Ahmed. They note that the month of Ramadan and the anniversary of the Algerian liberation movement should be used as a time for clemency and national reconciliation.

The two men are a journalist and human rights activist respectively. They covered particularly the plight of the citizens of the south of the country. The government claims they were a source of "instability and incitement." There are several other examples of human rights activists in Algerian jails. (albawaba.com)
