The Algerian Health Ministry "categorically" denied Sunday the rumours about the outbreak of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in the country. The cases registered in some hospitals "concern 'normal' pneumonia, not SARS," the Ministry pointed out in a statement, adding that "the epidemiological investigation and the samples analysed deny the rumour of SARS cases."
According to APS, the same source pointed out that health services registered, as is the case each year at the same period, "an outbreak" of patients with respiratory problems caused by an "acute flu," adding that "they are not fatal if covered in time."
