Algeria’s nation council received Friday some 150 children, who came from the various provinces of the country to celebrate the childhood world day, said Algeria’s official news agency.
According to the agency, this initiative, which comes in the framework of the preparation of the UN's special session on childhood, would enable children to express their concerns and expectations within the nation's council.
In this special parliamentary day for children, the latter edited "resolutions" on peace and children's rights to transmit them to the executive authorities, it added.
The little parliamentarians expressed their "extreme concern" about the seriousness of the current situation of children throughout the world and which is marked by violence whose first victims are children, and by poverty, exploitation and exclusion.
The ceremony was attended by the minister charged of the social action and national solidarity, Djamel Ould Abbes, the vice-president of the nation's council, the secretary general of the African movement of youth, the representative of Unicef and children of ambassadors accredited in Algiers.
Children handed over a message to Ould Abbes and to the vice-president of the nation's council to transmit it to the concerned authorities, it said – Albawaba.com
