The famous Tunisian author, Mohamed Larusi Al-Matwi, passed away on July 25, the state media reported on Wednesday. His famous novels "Among the Victims", "The Bitter Strawberry" and "Halima" dealt with the Tunisian struggle against imperialism and they were part of the curriculum in Tunisian schools. Al-Matwi was also involved in public activities and played a major role in establishing several cultural associations; including the Tunisian Authors Association, and the Story Club at the cultural club of "Abu al-Qasem al-Shabbi", and the "Qisas (Stories)" Magazine. The Tunisian president, Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, awarded al-Matwi the highest cultural honor reward in 1991.
