ALBAWABA - Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa has made a historic visit to the United States on Sunday, becoming the first Syrian leader to land in Washington in about since 1967.
The official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that al-Sharaa arrived in New York on Sunday in a "historic visit" to attend the UN General Assembly, marking the first appearance by a Syrian leader in the US at the annual gathering since 1967, according to the official Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).
According to Anadolu Agency, President Ahmed Al-Sharaa met with a delegation from the Syrian community in the U.S., emphasizing the importance of their role in conveying the true image of the Syrian Arab Republic, and expressing his thanks for their sincere efforts in serving their homeland.
Ahmed al-Sharaa left Damascus for New York along with an official delegation that included several ministers and senior officials for high-level meetings at UN headquarters.
