The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) has signed a $55.34 million contract with CCC, an international construction company, for the Sheikh Zayed housing project in Gaza. Saeed Khalfan Al Rumaithy, ADFD director general, and Waleed Sa’ad Salman of CCC signed the deal.

In a statement, Al Rumaithy declared the project, which was in line with the directives of President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, reflected the strong fraternal relations between the UAE and Palestine. The Zayed City project, which is planned to house between 25,000 and 30,000 people, is made up of 3,574 housing units, comprising 73 five-storey building blocks and 98 twelve-storey building blocks.

It boasts modern basic amenities and infrastructure, including a 2,000-capacity central mosque, another mosque of a lesser capacity, 9 schools of various educational levels, a market and shopping mall, a cultural centre, a library, a post office, a health centre, a public garden and a municipality building for the administration of the city. It will also have its own water reservoir and electricity supply station. (Albawaba.com)
