An Afghani convicted of theft in Mecca's Grand Mosque, the holiest site in Islam, had his right hand amputated in public on Sunday, the Saudi interior ministry said.
Ghulam Rang Sher Khan Ibrahim was caught stealing inside the mosque and confessed to his crime before Mecca's high court. The amputation verdict was upheld by the supreme judicial council and Saudi King Fahd, according to SPA.
The penalty was executed in public in Mecca, a ministry statement said. (Albawaba.com)
