ALBAWABA - In the most recent aerial attack on Russia's border province of Belgorod, one person has been killed and injured three others, according to the regional governor on Thursday.

"As a result of an explosion, a car driven by a female civilian overturned into a ditch. The woman died on the spot from her injuries," Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on social media, adding three more people had been wounded by shrapnel.

This week, three different groups of Ukrainian militias, mostly made up of opposition-related Russians, claimed to have taken control of the settlement of Tyotkino in a coordinated operation.

"Rosgvardia units are involved in repulsing an attack by enemy diversion groups near the village of Tyotkino in the Kursk region," according to the National Guard. In a joint statement, three pro-Kyiv volunteer groups urged authorities to evacuate citizens from Belgorod and Kursk.

Russia's defense ministry denied earlier this week that militia forces had gained control of any Russian territory, claiming to have blocked an attempted assault with air, rocket, and artillery strikes.

Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov stated on social media that one woman was killed and numerous others were injured in the most recent Ukrainian air raid on Thursday, but did not specify which weapons were used.

"As a result of an explosion, a car driven by a female civilian overturned into a ditch. The woman died on the spot from her injuries," Gladkov said, adding that three other people had been wounded by shrapnel.

He had previously stated that another person was killed overnight and six others were injured in a drone attack.

On Thursday, Russian Defense Ministry stated that it had fended off an attack by Ukrainian forces attempting to infiltrate the Belgorod region through the settlement of Spodariushino, but did not specify when this occurred.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that the series of attacks is part of an effort to disrupt upcoming elections in Russia and the seized territories of Ukraine this weekend.
