Acer, the leading notebook vendor in EMEA – Europe, Middle East and Africa (source: Gartner data, 1Q 2006), has today announced another proud admission to its range of high-performance notebooks with the Middle East launch of the Ferrari 1000 series.

The 12.1” screen makes the 1000 series the most compact in the Acer Ferrari range but as one would expect with a Ferrari, its size has in no way impacted on the performance offered.

“Since Acer started the Ferrari notebook range, the notebooks have been the driving force that has challenged not just Acer’s, but the industry’s perceptions of what is possible for a notebook computer,” said Graham Braum, Business Development Manager, Mobility and Cameras, Acer Computer Middle East.

“We are confident in announcing that the latest model – the Acer Ferrari 1000 – is an immediate leader amongst its peers in terms of power and performance,” added Braum.

Supporting its pole position in the market is the inclusion of the InviLink™ Nplify™ technology. An accelerated mobile wireless technology, that supports advanced multiple radios, delivers superior performance and reliable connections while enabling emerging voice, video and data applications, the Ferrari 1000 is the first notebook from Acer to incorporate the latest wireless innovation.

The Ferrari 1000 streamlined size disguises its internal power as it will also boast SATA drives for high performance – drives that are currently only found on a few larger notebooks.

Having identified a clear demand for both high-performance notebooks coupled with customers’ attraction to the association with the style and elegance that the Ferrari brand brings, sales of the Ferrari notebooks are reported to be selling as fast as its F1 equivalent on the track.

“We are confident the new Ferrari 1000 will quickly take the lead in the high-performance compact notebook market,” added Braum.

At 1.6kg and a 6 cell battery the Ferrari 1000 is in pole position in terms of its compact, light and performance-led features and a true thorough-bred addition to the already impressive Acer-Ferrari stable.
