ALBAWABA - The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan said on Thursday that they had arrested several people in El Fasher, the capital of Darfur State, who were suspected of breaking the law. One of the suspects was a man known as "Abu Lulu."

The RSF said in a Telegram message that the arrests were made in accordance with the orders of the leaders and their promise to follow the law and military rules during wartime. The statement said, "Our forces have arrested several people who were involved in abuses that happened during the liberation of El Fasher, most notably (Abu Lulu)."

The RSF said that legal committees have started looking into the detainees before sending them to court. They stressed that the goal of this is to stop any violations that "undermine human dignity, contradict moral principles, or violate international conventions, including the Geneva Conventions."

Statements that don't agree

A day after RSF spokesman Fateh Qureshi told Sky News Arabia that the man known as "Abu Lulu," who was in videos that allegedly showed summary executions in El Fasher, does not belong to the RSF, the announcement was made.

Qureshi said again that the RSF "has not harmed any civilians" and that a fact-finding committee would start working as soon as it is safe to do so.

He also said that an international investigation might be needed and added, "We have formed an internal inquiry committee, and as we said before, (Abu Lulu) is not with our forces." We had never seen him before these videos came out.

The RSF commander has ordered an independent investigation to confirm the suspect's identity, and the results will be made public once the investigation is over, according to the spokesperson.
