Abu Dhabi: Thousands of porno, fake films seized

Abu Dhabi local authorities have seized over 6,000 pornographic and fake movies and discs valued at more than Dh 600,000.

Hamad Al Shamsi, deputy director of Information and Publication at the Ministry of Information and Culture, said a major fake movie distributor in the country had fallen into an ambush set jointly by the ministry and the Abu Dhabi Police, WAM news agency reported.

"The suspect was dragged into a trap, where his car was thoroughly inspected and some one thousand pornographic films and other fake copies were found hidden inside," said Al Shamsi.

He added the suspect's house was then raided, upon permission from the Public Prosecution, where 5,000 movies and discs as well as photocopiers were found. After intensive investigations, the suspect was referred to the judiciary for necessary action.
