Prospective students in Abu Dhabi will have the opportunity to explore the diverse range of opportunities available at the British University in Dubai – the region’s first research based university – with a special open day and public lecture this Sunday.

BUiD is currently involved in major research in the UAE and Middle East in all of its key disciplines. These include projects on the increasing role of women in management, the environmental design of buildings, and personalised information delivery in IT.

The University is proactively seeking students from Abu Dhabi to join its pioneering Masters Programmes, and is exploring ways of making its programmes more accessible to students in Abu Dhabi.

“BUiD is one of the region’s most dynamic academic institutions and it is important that students throughout the UAE have the opportunity to see what we have to offer. The region’s economy is transforming rapidly, and BUiD’s unique educational programmes continually reflect that,” said BUiD’s Registrar and Acting CEO, David Lock.

The open day at Abu Dhabi’s Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sunday 19 December 15:00 – 20:00 hours, will be accompanied by a public lecture at 18:00 hours from BUiD’s Head of the Institute of Education, Dr. Mick Randall, which will examine modern teaching techniques in higher education.

“This lecture will focus on one of education’s most debated topics – whether we learn better in small group discussions or traditional large-scale lectures. This is a unique insight into the core themes of education and uses the latest research available,” said Dr. Randall.

The talk will use data collected on undergraduate courses, and will explain the implications of the different academic theories used in the Arab and Western worlds in small group work.

Prospective students can also find out more about BUiD, and the programmes on offer, at its Knowledge Village campus in Dubai every weekday from Saturday to Thursday, 09:00 – 17:00 hours.

As well as offering Masters Degrees in Information Technology, Project Management, Environment Design of Buildings and Education, BUiD also provides continuing professional development courses allowing students the flexibility of studying specific modules which compliment their chosen career path.

BUiD is planning to offer to additional Masters Programmes in Finance and Banking and IT Management subject to accreditation from the Ministry of Education.
