Companies with experience and capabilities to run a minimum fleet of 1,000 cars are being invited to submit expressions of interest as Abu Dhabi opens up the taxi sector. Rapidly following the issue of a new law earlier this month, Abu Dhabi’s Taxi Transport Regulation Centre today published the ‘Request for Pre-Qualification’ (RFQ).

“This step demonstrates our determination to create an efficient, modern and high quality taxi services network that will benefit the community and project a positive image of the Emirate” said, Khaled Saleh Al Rashedi, General Manager, Taxi Transport Regulation Centre.

The competitive tendering process consists of two stages, first a Pre-Qualification stage and the second is the final bidding stage, where limited franchise agreements will be awarded to successful bidders. The short-listed candidates will be officially announced via the press.
