ALBAWABA - At least 120 members of the Islamic States fled a prison in Al-Hasakah Governorate after the withdrawal of Syrian Democtaric Forces (SDF) from the area, Syria's Interior Ministry announced.
On early Tuesday, the Interior Ministry posted a stetement on X, "Following the escape incident that took place in Al-Shaddadi prison in the countryside of Al-Hasakah Governorate, which resulted in the escape of about 120 members of the ISIS terrorist organization, according to a source, who were being held inside the prison under the control of the "SDF" organization."

The ministry further mentioned that after the withdrawal of SDF forces, units of the Syrian Arab Army entered the city of al-Shaddadi, accompanied by special forces units from the Ministry of Interior.
It added that the army immediately began conducting thorough and organized search and sweep operations within the city and its surroundings, with the aim of pursuing fleeing elements and ensuring the maintenance of security and stability.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 81 ISIS members who escaped jail, while intensive security efforts continue to pursue the rest and take the necessary legal measures against them in accordance with the law.
