Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas Thursday said the Gaza Strip-Egypt border was largely under control after several days of chaos during which thousands crossed over at will.
"There have been some mistakes due to the feeling of joy," Abbas told reporters at the Rafah crossing between Egypt and Gaza. "Now these mistakes have been corrected," he was quoted as saying by The AP.
Asked if the chaos had been brought under control, Abbas responded, "To a very high degree, yes."
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces arrested three Palestinians in the West Bank city of Hebron, sources said. They told WAFA that Israeli soldiers set up a military checkpoint in Yatta town, south of Hebron, and launched a wide search campaign into houses, shortly before arresting three men.
