Female mutilation, or the practice of genital circumcision, affects 91.2 percent of Khartoum's women, reported ArabicNews.com on Tuesday.
The figures were released by the central bureau for statistics in the Sudanese city, in collaboration with UNICEF.
Experts stressed the need to eliminate this phenomenon, which is considered a “violation of the agreement on the right of the child,” said the news service.
They called for immediate reporting of such cases to specialized authorities
