ALBAWABA- The Health Ministry in the Houthi-run government announced Wednesday that at least nine people were killed and 120 others injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting Sana’a and Al-Jawf, in one of the deadliest attacks on Yemen since the escalation of regional hostilities.
Al-Masirah TV reported that the strikes damaged several civilian facilities, including residential houses, the Central Bank branch, and the government complex in Al-Jawf.
The attacks also struck the headquarters of Yemen’s Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Finance in Sana’a, as well as a fuel storage site and the Houthis’ media directorate.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said Yemeni air defenses fired surface-to-air missiles to repel the Israeli aircraft, claiming that “some formations were forced to retreat” before completing their missions.
Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthis’ Supreme Political Council, vowed that retaliation for the “Israeli aggression” is inevitable.
The Israeli military, meanwhile, confirmed its forces carried out “Operation Ring the Bells,” striking what it described as Houthi “military camps, propaganda facilities, and fuel sites” in response to drone and missile launches toward Israel.
Defense Minister Yisrael Katz warned of further “painful blows” against the Houthis.
The strikes came just a day after the Houthis claimed “successful” attacks on sensitive Israeli targets, including Ramon Airport, Eilat, and occupied Jerusalem.
Israel confirmed intercepting a missile fired from Yemen on Tuesday after air raid sirens were triggered in Jerusalem and the Dead Sea settlements.
