There are eight private universities in Syria, <i>SANA</i> reported on Tuesday. Four of them started accepting students two years ago. They are al-Qalamoun University in Deir Ateyeh, Aleppo University for Sciences and Arts, al-Maamoun University for Sciences and Technology in al-Qamishli and al-Ittihad University in Raqaa.
Decrees on establishing four private universities have also been issued recently, including the Arab-European University in Deraa, the Arab-American University for Technology in Aleppo and al-Andalous University for Medical Sciences in Tartous and the International University for Sciences and Technology in Deraa.
