6.5 million women unemployed in Algeria

A report, issued by the Algerian National Office of Statistics, has indicated that 6.5 million women are unemployed in Algeria, reported the August 10 edition of the Algerian <i>Al-Khabar</i> daily. 65.8% of Algerian women whose ages range between 15 and 59 years do not work; half of these women live in rural areas and half live in urban centers. The highest rate of unemployment was registered among women below the age of 35, i.e. between 15 and 34 years old.
