Thirty Iraqi Kurds requested political asylum in Israel on Thursday, after crossing into the Jewish state from Lebanon near the village of Yuval on the border, reported Haaretz newspaper.

But the paper said that the Israeli army was attempting to send them back to Lebanon.

Among the refugees are women and children, said the paper, adding that this was not the first time that Iraqi Kurds had attempted to enter Israel and claim asylum – Albawaba.com
