26 Films and TV Programs Included Cairo Festival for Children’s Movie

Twenty-six films and TV programs from 16 different countries will compete at the Cairo International children movie festival that will be held on the 13th of next March. 

Cairo Festival Chief, Dr. Fawzi Fahmi, announced in a press conference held Tuesday that the forthcoming festival will bring many surprises. He confirmed that six Arab countries including Qatar, Syria, Tunisia, Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia would be among the counties that will participate in the festival. Sixty-three informational films will also be screened bringing the number of films in the festival to 89. 

While the festival opening film has not been decided, it will be chosen from among four films from China, Indonesia, Iran and the United States. It has been decided to focus on the Tunisian cinema that will be represented by 10 films, and the Iranian cinema that will participate with 18 films. 

The festival chief indicated that the French director, Francoie Lagioni, and the Indian producer, Raja Lan, will receive medallions in addition to the late Egyptian artist, Mohammad Fawzi, actress Karimah Mukhtar, artist Mohyiddin Al Labbad and the journalist, Natilah Rashed who have also been nominated. The jury for the novel and short films will consist of 9 members and be headed by the English director, Richard Finken. The TV films’ jury will also be consisting of 9 members and be headed by the renowned cartoonist Mustafa Hussein. This is in addition to a jury of 29 children from all over the world. Many films, which were awarded prizes at international festivals on previous occasions, will be screened at the forthcoming Cairo festival--lbawaba.com
