At dawn Sunday, fighters attacked police stations in western Anbar province, leaving 22 people dead, at least seven of them policemen, according to police and hospital officials.
Using bombs and small arms fire, attackers struck police stations in Haditha and Haqlaniyah, located some 135 miles northwest of Baghdad, said Capt. Nasser Abdullah of the K3 police station in Haqlaniyah.
Meanwhile, early Sunday, Marines fired artillery at "rebel positions" inside Fallujah and clashed with armed fighters, killing at least 16. Two U.S. soldiers were injured at a checkpoint, the U.S. military said. (Albawaba.com)
