At least 11 Iraqis, including women and children, were killed on Tuesday in clashes between American occupation soldiers and Iraqi resistance fighters near the Iraqi town of Fallujah, hospital sources said.
Witnesses said heavy clashes broke out in Karma after resistance fighters attacked a U.S. military convoy. At least two U.S. military vehicles had been damaged.
Bombing attacks
A suicide bomber detonated a car bomb during rush hour outside a U.S. base in Baqouba Tuesday, killing at least four Iraqis and one US soldier and wounding 12 others, police said.
Ambulances, Humvees and Iraqi police rushed to evacuate the wounded at the al-Faris base, some 50 kilometers north of Baghdad.
The blast took place near the base's main gate, an eyewitness said.
Elsewhere, also Tuesday, twin bombing attacks rocked Iraq's third-largest city - Mosul.
In the first attack, at least 10 people were killed and at least 100 injured when the bomb, hidden inside a taxi, went off in front of Mosul's city hall, causing huge damage to the building and destroying at least nine vehicles in the area, according to Iraqi police officials.
The chief of the Mosul police department's operations unit said the explosion seemed to target City mayor Salem al-Hadj Isa. According to Reuters, Isa himself was unharmed in the blast.
A second blast followed 45 minutes later outside an occupation operating base. (Albawaba.com)
