For Nepali migrant workers, 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar is game of death
Since Qatar received the honor of hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, thousands of foreign construction from Nepal and India have perished. Despite Qatar’s promises to investigate the deaths and collect statistics, the small Gulf country has not delivered. It has also promised to reform the controversial Kafala system, in which laborers are tied to their employers and have restricted movement. Many around the world, outraged by the unsafe conditions for migrant laborers in Qatar, have called for FIFA to move the 2022 tournament to another country.

Egypt’s new capital city revealed
Egypt revealed Friday its plans for a glitzy, modern new capital city east of Cairo. The new city will use sustainable energy sources and promises to provide over one million stable jobs, as well as alleviate congestion in overpopulated Cairo.
