Prince's Islamophiia as a problem: 'It's fun to be in Islamic countries' 

in a 2011 interview in The Guardian, the late musician Prince said something that surprised his interviewer, Dorian Linskey:

"It's fun being in Islamic countries, to know there's only one religion.  There's order.  You wear a burqa.  There's no choice.  People are happy with that."

These brief remarks demonstrate that Prince was the opposite of the typical American Islamophobe. He was favorable to Islam and Muslims despite being a devout Christian himself in late life (this position is called Islamophilia, or love for Islam in Greek as opposed to fear of it). Those who hate Islam project their anxieties on it, seeing it as fostering violence and lawlessness and fanaticism.

The long road to Bethlehem 

On one of the worst nights, Mohammad and I lie on our 50-dollar-Goodwill couch, head to foot.

“Close your eyes,” I say. “We’re in the garden again, in Bethlehem.”

He smiles.

I close my eyes, take a deep breath, and I swear—just for a second—I can feel the wind coming up from the valley, I can smell the earth from the freshly-tilled orchard below, I can hear the grape leaves stirring above.

“We’re home.”

Syrians angered by '100 years of beauty' video

A series of time lapse videos by Cut.com showing fashion trends of the past century has been a huge hit with stylists.

However, 100 years of beauty's latest attempt to meld fashion with politics has ended on a sour note.

Cut.com's video showing fashion trends in Syria from 1910 to the present day have slammed as crude, insensitive, and unhistorical by style lovers from the region.
