Jordan braces for major snowstorm over weekend

Jordan has a national holiday as the Kingdom braces for its second major snowstorm this winter.  Freezing weather is forecast to last through Saturday and strong winds as well as frost and snow are expected.

#RIP21: Revenge, Air Strike and another day in the Middle East

The Egyptian air force led air strikes against Daesh training camps in Libya Monday following the beheading of 21 Egyptian workers in Egypt's war-torn neighbor.  The Libyan armed forces also issued a statement declaring that its air force struck Derna, an eastern city that was amongst the first to see Daesh-related expansion into the country.  Despite reports of civilian casualties in Derna, feelings of nationalistic pride soared in Egypt following the air strikes.

Ras Beirut, Bliss Street, and "Abu Muhammad"

Bliss Street, located in Beirut's hip Ras Beirut neighborhood, embodies the largely educated and diverse flavor of the area, which encompasses the American University of Beirut.  One major fixture of the street was an elderly shoe shiner named Abu Muhammad. His longtime presence on the street represented a continuity in the neighborhood that is now fading away, similar to the Lebanese restaurant he worked in front of, which today is a McDonald's.  Those who remember the local legend share photos and and writing dedicated to him.
