An Iranian source was quoted as saying on Tuesday that the Israeli Intelligence organization the "Mossad" tried to assassinate President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his visit to Lebanon last October. The source told an Arabic newspaper that Iran had uncovered the Mossad's plot which was to be carried out by the opponents of the Iranian regime. Some of these elements are located in Lebanon and Syria and Iraq.
The source added Iran was aware of most of the movements of the opponents "who have sold their souls to the forces of arrogance and Zionism (the West and Israel)," noting that his country does not want to talk with these opposition groups directly or indirectly so as not to give them more weight than their true weight.
The source said: "We do not describe them dissidents as we call domestic political dissidents, most notably Mir-Hossein Moussavi, who ran against in the election against President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last year, but we call them hypocrites; they cooperate abroad with Zionism against the Islamic revolution and against the Iranian people."
