Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is believed to be looking for a new partner up front for Olivier Giroud this summer as he knows that despite his best efforts, the Frenchman cannot do it all on his own.
Reports from the Mirror claim that the Gunners' manager is once again looking to a Real Madrid star that is believed headed for the summer exodus at the Santiago Bernabeu as his answer.
Karim Benzema is a long standing target for Wenger as the manager is believed to have been admiring the forwards' abilities for some time.
The addition of Benzema to the Arsenal front line also would make a lot of sense because the 26-year-old is another French international and is already used to partnering with Giroud on the international stage and nothing strengthens and partnership than playing together at all levels.
However, Manchester United are also believed to be tracking the potential summer La Liga exit of Benzema closely and the Frenchman is considered a possible target for impending United boss, Louis Van Gaal.
Madrid are expected to demand £30 million or more and want to have the player's future sorted before the World Cup, but there is already belief that Madrid will try and use him as bait for Liverpool to sell Luis Suarez and that could scupper both Arsenal and United's plans as well.
